I showed off my flip flop cake and immediately got orders for 2 more!! I don't know how to price them... I cut mine from 2 9"x13" cakes, put a filling and then frost. Both orders are for family so I am likely to undercharge anyway... but I was wondering how y'all handle it? The other variable is what flavor cake/ filling will be. I am thinking about the yellow cake with orange juice ( in the recipes section)and a white chocolate cream filling(from ladycakes). LMK what you think... I have over a week until the first one is delivered.. Thanks so much!

I think I would charge it as a 3d cake. Because its in the easy range and two layers it would be $2 per serving. as far as flavors go, that sounds yummy to me. because it is a summer cake, the orange will give it a tropical kind feel.

I sold a flip flop cake to a friend recently and I charged $2.00 per serving. I think my cake was a a similar size. I cut mine from a 12x15" pan. 2 layers and covered in fondant. I would usually charge $2.50 per serving, but gave a "friend" discount and told her I was. That way she knew she was getting a deal and when asked by other people how much if they ordered one, she wouldn't tell them the same price.
That size cake fed 25 people, so I charged $50. You can see the cake in my photos. The pink and black one was a practice and the one I sold is pink with black and yellow.
They loved it. Good luck!! icon_wink.gif

Well, ladies... thank you for your input. Today, I have trial- run the 3 recipes for my cake, filling, etc. I am not pleased. I will rethink my plans as the cake will need to travel for 1 1/2 hours or so in Texas heat. I do not know that they have a cooler big enough to accomodate the cake. Have decided to use not too sweet BC and perhaps mix a little with Apricot filling that is already made in the fridge. The cake recipe did not make as big a cake as they said... so I have to find a new one. It made a 10" square for me.. OH well... Back to the kitchen!! Thanks again.
