Do you all use the tip storage cases that you can buy at Michael's or do any of you have home made ones.

Hi!

There was recently a long post about storage for all types of supplies, I'll try to find the link!

Personally, I use the white 55 [or something] storage cases.

I use a clear plastic tackle box-They are really inexpensive. I mark the tip numbers on the slots.

I use these that I bought at Harbor Freight. Each compartment can hold up to 4 different tips but I am currently only using 2 in each bin. I still have tons of room for more. They were only $7.49 each. I printed out a picture of each tip and what it does and taped it to the outside front of the bin.

ChrisJ: I love the idea with the drawers! How smart to print out what each tip does too!

Chrisj - Great idea! I see where you have a little picture of each tip. I might have to go to that system before too long.

Yes I am using tip storage cases.
Your tips won't damage if they are in this case. They are always safe and you can keep your couplers also in it.
I love ChrisJ Idea too.

Thanks

Right now I use the Wilton Tool Box thingy. But it has tips stuck on top of tips that aren't related. I like the tool box idea but I have so little room at the moment. Oh well, I can still get the job done I guess!!

I bought a spool rack at JoAnn and adapted it for my tips. I sharpened the spool peg tips with a small pencil sharpener, so they would fit into the tips' cone shape. Since the tips are not as wide as spools, I added headless nails for pegs between the existing pegs. I have extra tips stored in boxes. The tips are grouped in rows, according to type. Along the bottom of each row, I added a strip of tape with the tip numbers on it, so I can be sure what is where at a glance. At the back, under the rack, are little bins with all my couplers and my icer tips, etc. The whole thing sits on a turntable. It sits on my work counter, with a dustcover made from a 2 gallon ziplock bag.

I use the spool rack too. I got mine at joanns also. They have long ones and short ones for different types of spool/thread. I have the short one and I mounted to the wall in my kitchen!
