on the way home from work today i was listening to a radio show where the host gives you "tips for life" lots of little tidbits to keep you stress free and how to stick to a budget, stuff like that.

one of the little tidbits he announced today was how to keep on budget for your wedding, that he read in a magazine. he announced to ask for a dummy cake!! he said that you might be able to save 50% on your wedding cake!!! no wonder everyone thinks you can get a free cake!!

its people like this who announce to the public that you CAN save money in ways that you might not that make everyone think they can. then the customer is the one to get upset when you tell them otherwise!

oh geesh, you should hear me with brides when this comes up! I flat out tell them, "Contrary to all of the advice you get on wedding shows, websites and magazines from people who are NOT in the cake business, let me tell you why that's a big crock......!" THen I flat out lay it out for them.

In the business section of yesterday's Houston Chronicle was a big article on a company who RENTS dummy cakes to brides on a budget. They have a part of the dummy cake missing, where a piece of real cake goes for the cake cutting ceremony, and then the dummy cake is wheeled into the kitchen, where sheet cakes are cut and served.

UGH~ I can't stand budget brides!!

People wants to save money on their cakes (even birthday cakes) but when it comes to get their nails done (each month) and hair do's (each month also) and such stuff, they're ready to pay the big bucks... go figure. Ihad a lady once, with big hair, long fake nails, big make-up, and she wanted to change everything on the cake to make it cheaper... sent her to the grocery store, geez if you want quality you have to pay for quality!
