Do you prefer to roll out your gum paste and fondant using ps or cs? Why?

I am trying to find the best powder for the job, and I have seen some recipes that say to use corn starch.

You will get different responses for this icon_smile.gif

I use cornstarch and/or shortening. For some reason, I find that it is a finer powder than cornstarch (might just be my imagination though).

Neither, I use a thin coating of Crisco on a Roul Pat mat, wipe away any excess. If I use powdered sugar or cornstarch I feel it dries out the fondant, and it also leaves a coating of powder on the finished fondant.

For gumpaste I use a non stick cel board with a thin film of Crisco.

I'm another one that doesn't use either. I put Crisco on my hands while working the fondant.

I use cornstarch & crisco but a lot of the time I just use crisco. I try to keep enough crisco on my hands too~

Crisco if I don't want it to dry out too fast, cornstarch if I do. Often wondered about the PS tho - just never tried it.
