How do I prevent air pocket blow outs in my buttercream frosted cakes?

One cake out of ten it seems will have a blow out appear on the side after it is completely frosted and decorated. Sometimes it is within hours other times it is overnight. Please give me suggestions.

Thanks

It sometimes happens with the cake is cold and the icing is not.

i find that if i let the cake settle a little before frosting it prevents these blow outs. i have learned these tips from different people on this site, use a #12 tip to pipe the dam (1/4 inch from the edge) with stiff buttercream and the filing cover the cake with wrap so it doesn't dry out and then let it settle for about a half hour, I help it along by putting the pan on top and a 1 lb box of sugar. frost the cake and then poke a little hole in the top of the cake - have not had any problems since. hth

The cake is burping! Like Jaxdesserts, I let the cake settle with the filling and crumbcoat (overnight for me) before applying the final coat of icing. This really helps reduce blowouts.
