My kitchen is ok by European standards, but I dream of designing my own kitchen. I have a binder with pictures and ideas of the way I want my kitchen to be when I get it. The rest of the house may be small, but my kitchen will be huge and well equipped. icon_biggrin.gif

Honestly, it was fun at times...but overall it was a mess! I worked my butt off in the other wife's house...(cleaning, of course..LOL) and came home to my home being a DISASTER. She and the crew had caused a few thousand dollars in dammage (which the production co. paid for) but it was just before Xmas, and I had to wrangle getting everything taken care of on top of gettting ready for Xmas. But I had my hour on primetime TV...LMBO thumbs_up.gif

LOL It was 2 years ago in March that our episode aired. They made us out to be very "military" (DH was in the Army, and I was in the Air Force years ago). She was from Miniapolis and was a "hippy". Her son (Dan) was 17 at the time and HATED everything about me....one of his most famous lines was "Jesus was nothing more than a carpenter who talked too much..." icon_mad.gif One of the producers said he was "the next unibomber.." LOL.

Edited to add...you can still go to ABC's website and look up the "Wife Swap" show...then look for the Patrick\\Lierwood episode..our profiles are still out there. LOL

by habit i too like to keep things Just so but with two teenage boys and a hubby who aren't in the same way as i am its impossible to keep things the way *i* like them. when hubby worked out of town half the week i used to be able to keep my house clean and then spend two days after he left cleaning just to get it bak the way i liked it lol. he was a little miffed when i told him how long it took me to clean up after he left and said "I didn't make That much of a mess"

yes he did lol.

and when health problems get in my way my house work gets way behind.

My kitchen has decent amount of cupboards but the image is decieving. they are Small cupboards and dont' hold much at all. most of my baking pans are kept outsiide on the back porch shelving or the least used ones are kept in the shed.

of course thats where my aquarium hobby supplies are kept along with my gardening hobby supplies lol.

i forgot to add lol hubby is aware that when we are ever able to build our house he knows i want a BIG kitchen. and for some reason i want a couple drains put in the floor in inconspicuous places. i've had in the past the ice maker break down and flood the kitchen and bedrooms etc yadda and i want drains put in the floor to compensate for this. as well as my aquatic habit Lol!

Here is my kitchen, I bought this house because of the kicthen. It is not the biggest but it allows me to still cook and people to be in there with me. The kitchen seems to be the place everyone gathers no matter what we have going on.

We are currently building a new home (which was supposed to have been fiinshed tomorrow, but still has a long way to go). The new kitchen is about 6 times the size of the kitchen I have now and I cannot wait!!!!!!!!

Okay now, don't everyone get jealous or anything, but it just so happens that I have some photos of my kitchen already downloaded for another reason, so I'll show them. I know you're all going to run out and redo your kitchens to look like mine. Enjoy. ha ha

Thanks...LOL The little brat actually prank called our house a few times the night our episode aired...we had to call the producers to have them force his parentst to control him. icon_rolleyes.gif It was in the contract...they couldn't contact us after if we didn't want them to...or they could be sued for a LOT of money.

My kitchen is ok. I love the granite, but its black and you can see everything. Its very small compared to the rest of the house. It is not very well proportioned. Here it is while its a mess. I made this pic for a thread in The Lounge.

ah! finally i'm not the only one who has paper towel wrappers on the counter. not my fault mind you, dh thinks it would kill him to walk 2 feet to the garbage....

my kitchen is 8 feet from one end to the other end on the long side, so no one gets to complain, and it's 6 1/2 feet the other way. i have 5 cupboards total, and 1 is an over-the-fridge smaller one. and there's a shelf unit with some sliding doors in one end of the kitchen. and we had to go buy a plastic pantry and put it in my toddler's room to hold all the food. lmao.

an ammateur built my kitchen.

and my sink sprayer is only 6 inches long.

heehee.

but... i have a dishwasher and a garbage disposal, so it's not all bad

Thank you, yes they are Longaberger baskets. My DH used to work for them in the BIG basket, so I have lots. The room off my kitchen is an informal dining room, that I made into the basket room. I stenciled baskets with ivy in them around the room as a border (I bought the stencil at the Longaberger homestead). I have baskets just stacked and a few on display in there, oh yes and a dinner table. icon_lol.gif

Food is my passion, I love it, but if I lived in Ohio I would work for Longaberger!
I made my first BUT not last trip up last summer, wish I could afford to this year. I love their products! I
went tonight to my consultants home, she was having a home house and selling some of her doubles and older ones. Well, let's just say I need more cake orders now! icon_biggrin.gif

Okay, here is my kitchen. It's in my basement.

Oopps, they posted in the wrong order. Start at the bottom and view working your way up. The last one is standing in the doorway, then they work the way around the room starting at the right.

CulinaryC, that is one fantastic setup. I would love to do that, but then I wouldn't be able to use the rest of my basement. I am going to look into redoing the little studio apartment that's connected to my home though. If they consider it a separate entrance and when I have the money, and if I'm zoned for it (lots of if's here), then DH and I will set me up. Oh well, I'm a long way off from that anyway.

Actually, this is just the back corner of my basement. We only have a half sized basement and this is the small back corner. I put my fridge, freezer, and cake boxes out side along the walls. My farther still has his corner with all his stuff, so it works well for us. Goodluck in getting your new kitchen.

I love having islands in the kitchen. Our kitchen upstairs has an island, I love it. I think all kitchens should have islands, love em'! icon_biggrin.gif
