Yeah, took me a week of baking sheet cakes, and about 9 hours decorating, but mr alligator is now finished.
He is 4 and half feet long, and weighs about 50 lbs. His head is strawberry, his chest is chocolate, his back is yellow and his tail is lemon! Serves 250 people (I hope!)
I just had to share him with you guys!
Wow, good job!! =)
...50 pounds!!!! mmm...lots of cake!!!
Wow! Awesome. How did you transport it? What kind of event was it for?
You did a really good job on that! I know that took a really long time.
Great job. Hope you took pictures along the way so you can share a "how to" with us. Love the expression on his face and the bright green.
I was looking forward to seeing this and you didn't leave me disappointed. Extremely impressive!!!! Super job!
Thanks guys! I had a ball doing it! (and I am so glad I didn't do the stars! I would still be working on it! haha I think I cut out 200 circles!)
This is for a swim team, called the Abbington Alligators. They just finished up their season and have a big banquet, which features this huge cake. (there are about 100 members in the team, so they come and their parents, etc) The back of my car folds down flat to 5 feet, so three of us are going to carry him out to the car.
He took 7 sheet cakes, so it took me a week to bake them (everyday after work, I would put one in the oven) and last night when I came home from work around 5 and took the cakes out of the freezer, made the buttercream and began to kneed all that fondant! Pulled out all my sketches (I couldn't decide to make him cute or real..decided to go with cute) and started working away! I finished him at 3:30 this morning!! (working constantly...my legs are more tired then anything, becuase I had him in one room and had my fondant layed out in another! hahaha
I have attached a "naked picture"
You can see, he is pretty simple underneith it all.
