Was at Michael's (AGAIN!), with the goal of purchasing only the thing I needed -- another decorating box, when I saw it...the tilting turntable. icon_lol.gif Unfortunately, I had that new 50% off coupon! So, what was I to do? I bought it of course! icon_wink.gif

Now that I have it home, I'm just not sure. Haven't tried it yet, but was wondering if anyone here has it and if it's worth it??

TIA -- Sarah

I bought mine with the 50% off coupon and have used it several times - I'm still not sure!! One thing I don't like about it, it the top lifts right off. There should be a locking mechinism. I've tried tilting it to decorate a cake and the cake wanted to slid off - don't know if I did something wrong or not. I've read in a forum that some people like Ateco's but by then I had bought Wiltons!

I'd say no too. I hardly ever use the tilt on it, and it doesn't spin very smoothly.

If you are referring to the one with the black slip resistant top, it is absolutely worth the money. I haven't decorated a cake without it since I bought it a year ago. I have even decorated a cake tilted over as far as it would go without the cake slipping. It is GREAT!!!!! thumbs_up.gif

icon_biggrin.gifthumbs_up.gif Yes! Yes! It makes doing decorations on the side of cake easier! Just give it the angle you need. It has a nonskid rubber surface which keeps the cake board from sliding. If you need one or a new one it is definitly worth it. icon_smile.gif

I have one and have used it a couple of times. The first time was great for basketweave. The 2nd time I almost lost my cake! The board stayed planted on the non slip surface, but my cake started sliding off of the cake board!! IT was close, but I managed to save it! I guess I like it still, but I am just going to be more careful about how far I tilt it from now on.

I've had mine a couple of years now and I use it all the time. I also dont like the top coming off I agree it should lock, the tilting feature works well when I use it, however when I can afford to I will get a different one, as this one does not spin well and it wobles when using with large cakes.

For the price I paid, I like it. I also bought it at Michael's with a 50% off coupon. Like others, I don't like how the top just lifts off. I have used the tilt feature. It definitely makes if much easier when doing the basketweave. But, I too almost lost a cake. The board stayed but, the cake slid. icon_eek.gificon_cry.gif I forgot to "glue" the cake to the board with bc. icon_redface.gif I saved it though. icon_biggrin.gif With the coupon, I think it is a good buy, but definitely not at full price!

Thanks for all the opinions everyone! I will always remember to glue the cake down though! I, too, wondered about the top coming off. It would seem to make more sense to have a locking mechanism. And, I thought it seemed a little wobbly. But, I think I'll try it and give it a shot. At 1/2 the price, it might not be that bad. I'll check out Ateco's. I wonder how much they want?

Thanks again! THis is the best site! thumbs_up.gif
