I did a cake this weekend for a friend of my sister's. I was so proud of it, I thought it was pretty awesome (the baseball cake in my photos). I just got this message from her,
"Like I said before, it's amazing. His jaw just dropped when he saw it. We didn't cut into it because he wanted to show everyone at his party, and called his Mom to tell her about it, and then she wanted to see it in person, so it got brought back to Portage last night and we still haven't eaten it. That's how ridiculously good it was Meghan, he doesn't even want to eat it, he just wants to showboat his special cake around, haha. Thank you again!"
I mean, I know it sounds good, but I feel really weird that they didn't eat the cake yet! My friends are telling me that it is a good thing, but I feel like eating the cake is the best part! The chocolate layer cake is killer....eat the cake!

I think that's a great compliment...if only they would eat it! After all that's why we have cameras...to take a picture of stuff like that.

I was a beautiful cake, and the cardinal is awesome. Great job!

It's a compliment. I've had that happen also where someone calls and said they don't want to cut it because it looks so great. I laugh and say take a picture and eat the darn thing. LOL. Enjoy the compliments.

That is a nice compliment. But just wait until they taste it. YOu are right - that chocolate layer cake is the best. Congratulations.

That happens to me too. I feel like I have to force people to cut the darn cake sometimes.

Gosh, when I hear this from someone else I think it is a great compliment! But when people would prefer to stand around a stare at my cakes then I wonder if something is wrong with them. icon_cool.gif

On my Faberge Egg, it took the family four days - four days icon_eek.gif before they would cut into it - weird. I told them to hurry up before it got moldy-ewwwww! icon_lol.gif

Why feel weird about it? I would be really thrilled if someone said they didn't want to cut into my cake because of how good it looked and wanted to show it off to everybody. Of course they'll eat the cake eventually; if they don't, it's going to start getting yucky and they'd have to throw it away. If they like the way it looks, just think about all the compliments they'll give you when they finally eat it icon_smile.gif

Kids have to show things off in person, pictures are just not the same. I think it looks great and you should be proud.

I had a friend do this. She saved that thing, til there was no more saving it, if you know what i mean. She loved it, and though it was years ago, still talks about it.

Remember that Wilton piano pan? It was brand new......... LOL
