Do you know who sells those cake stencils that go AROUND the sides of the cake, not the one for the top..am not interested in those round ones that go on the top.

I am looking for the ones w/ tiny designs and go on the sides. I looked in the internet, but all I see are the round ones..
thank in advance.. Keep cool, it' was icon_mad.gif 115 degrees here yesterday. what about where you are ? icon_smile.gif

I just got a catalog from Sweet Celebrations last week, and there are some in it. They have coordinating side and top stencils in some patterns also, I think they'd be fun to play with!

I saw that one last night and I thought about a quilting stencil. I'm sure a painting stencil would work as well. Just make sure they are dedicated to cakes!

macksnax has a cake in the bridal shower gallery. where she uses lace for drawer liners? It really turned out nicely. You could probably pm her. It looks a lot like what was on the cake challenge last night. It sounds like it would work well on the sides of cakes.

I agree, I saw that last night and was wowed....what a neat idea.

You can get all kinds of stencils in the painting area at Walmart and the craft stores....I'm gonna start there.

When someone tries this....make sure to post your results.

You also can cut your own stencils from mylar which is pretty cheap and then you would have your own unique stencils.

Ok.. I watched that last night and I didn't see any stencils. Who used them??? How did I miss that part? If you look in my gallery I just did a black and white cake with stencils on the sides.

The pink team used the stencil. The pink fondant was a bit uneven, so the decorator put a stencil against the side of the cake, put a layer of royal icing on it, then lifted the stencil to leave the royal icing design on the cake.

It was really neat, quick, and looked great!

Yes they have them at the craft store. I have some of the ones that were pink. It is a technique they showed were you apply a paste for crafting same concept. I have some more delicate ones that I won at OSSAS. Cannot remember who they are from though???

i saw the show also and wanted to try that technique. You guys thing its a regular painting stencil?? I think it would work also with buttercream, i dont think it definately has to be royal. what do you guys think?

I saw the show too and went out and bought some stencils. I got them at Michael's. Since I like using BCF I gave it a try. It worked really nicely. I used royal icing for the stencil after I had firmed up the frosting in the fridge. Lots of fun. Just went back to the store and bought a few more.

How would you use them on buttercream? How would you keep the stencil from moving - or from indenting the icing cake at the ends of the stencil or the top? Would you use royal over buttercream? Wouldn't that destroy the royal? I thought it looked like an awesome technique.... just not sure how hard it is......

Sugarcraft has some - and even some pens that help you cut myler and make your own stencils....... cool!

I was saying using buttercream over the fondant. you know instead of using the royal over fondant. Maybe you can do it over buttercream after its firmed up and you be very gentle.

You can get them at www.cakedeco.com. They have ones for the top (round ones) and one for the sides that match the round ones.

peacock place - so you did that exact technique with royal icing and a stencil by smearing it over the stencil? Or did you place the stencil on the cake and pain in the open parts?

I saw your cake the other night and thought it was beautiful...again, if I have not already said it, perfect cake!

I'm sure we would have all liked to see you on the show to learn this tech from you instead of the stressed out lady in pink....lol

It was in the stencil area with the others. It is laser cut, clear blue stencil, light weight so care is needed. Came with two different ones.
