I'm working on a crown cake. The only part that is carved is the darn triangles on top. The problem is - they are crumbling SO bad I can't get the bc on. I thinned it down and it didn't even help.

The buttercream is KINDA on now, I'm going to rely on cleverly placed borders and air brushing to cover them...

Any other ideas? I have it in the freezer right now setting up a bit.

Oooh I can imagine how you feel (have had a lot of cake-dramas here icon_wink.gif ) but never forget that somehow it always turns out better than you think!!!

I have no further advice than the freezer, I think it will come out a lot better and hopefully the BC will hold well then. The borders and airbrush will make it just fine I think. Maybe add some edible pearls or silver dragees, they always look very "royal". Good luck with it!! thumbs_up.gif

How about chocolate (or white chocolate) ganache? Maybe poured fondant?

Well, it came out okay. It's in the fridge doing the final set-up and than I'm going to add the lollipop jewels on the top.
