When icing with buttercream I like to ice a cold cake - from the fridge when I can. Has anyone ever iced a frozen cake? If so, have you had any problems with it?

Thanks
Debbie

I think you'd need to let the cake sit out for a while, maybe an hour or so to thaw a little. Janice

I always ice a frozen cake, that's how you can lock in the moisture and keep the cake moist. After you have it iced, you will need to let the cake sit for about 30 minutes to 1 hour before you decorate with alot of color. It will "sweat" a little, but I get rave reviews about how moist the cakes are!

Thanks! I iced three 1/2 frozen cakes last night and loved how easy they were to ice because of how firm they were. I am going to decorate them tonite along with one more I need to ice and decorate.

I always freeze my cakes. They're easier for me to decorate that way. I just let them sit out and "breathe" for about 20 min. first... no need for a crumb coat that way.
