I've seen the tutorial for icing cakes with corners, but what about covering said cake with fondant?
How do you get the corners covered without making it IMPOSSIBLE to get the sides smooth?
Rachel
I did a square cake in class(last fall) and I beleive we were told to do the corners first and then work on smoothing the rest out after.
That's a brilliant idea Doug. And with as much as that woman uses fondant - I think I'll give it a try on a practice cake.

this is the book she explains it in >>

and if you have it, look closely and you can see it on the cover cakes.
there is a great set of 3 tutorial videos on fondant (by satin ice) at this link... short but very informative.

No need to cut corners you must place fondant on top and ease everything in place it is very very similiar to sewing and easing in a sleeve on the curverd bodice armholes....Just practise,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I LOVE FONDANT AND the covering of cakes with it,,,,you just need patience warm hands and lots of rubbing with the palms
The tutorial from Alaskanmom is good. It breifly discusses square cakes and as I said earlier he also said to do the corners first. Smooth the cake from top to bottom not side to side and like everything...practice, practice, practice. Good Luck!
