for the record...I HATE candy clay! 
I ended up mixing it with my cocoa fondant mix.....its too soft!
just found this thread and was so excited going throught the 5 pages! It was instant gratification because I got to see all the figures at once. Love Love Love them!!! Tinkerbell is totally adorable and I think I have to give this a shot so thanks for inspiring me to try something new. As for the girls, they are so cute. How did you do the telephone cord???? Out of curiousity, if u dont mind sharing... how much do you charge for a cake with figures (trying to plan ahead) thanks!! Cant wait to see the finished product.. 
aww thanks steffla!! You should try it...I was very very afraid of fondant to start with....just last year I was afriad of makig homemade icing!!! ......but fondant or seeing everyone else's little figures scared me to death!!! Just jump in !!!
the telephone cord is just a piece of fondant "snaked" rolled.... I rolled it like I was making a snake the coiled it like a spring....I didnt try to open the spring until I attached the ends to her and the phone! hope that helps....
I have no idea what to tell you to charge or what Im would even consider charging.....the figures are a lot of work....and on this cake there will be 11!!

I assume I must not be working with the right consistency. Maybe I should practice with the gross wilton fondant for a while so I can tell what it should feel like when I make my own. Will the MMf feel the same if it is made properly?

are you using all the sugar whe making the mmf? I dont use it all I just kinda add it until it feels right....it will be very pliable but not sticky. I mix mine until it has the consistency of playdo! Ive never tried the wilton so i dont know.....it would probably make making figures a lot easier for me if I did!!!

thanks twinsy! I never thought of that, I just assumed you were supposed to add the whole thing. I usually go through a little bit of kneading...feels dry so add a bit of water... it starts to feel perfect but figure I have only been kneading it a minute or two so it cant be right...keep kneading... gets sticky...add some crisco and go on a crazy cycle of this until I just give up and let it rest until I am ready to use it. It looks really good on the wedding cake in my photos but everytime after that it has gotten progressively worse. Dont want to give up, Maybe I should wait till this horribly humid weather goes away and try again!!

when I started to make them....I started to pair them up...but the mother mentioned letting each little girl pick one and take them home....so I thought to do it this way each one "doing" something slumner party like!

Im warning you ....dot you laugh at my poor attempt at animal print jammies!!! I fell out of my chair when the mom told me those were her jammies!! .....but what it was that totally knowcked me off is when I asked what her teddy looked like...and she told me SCOOBY FREAKIN DOO!!!!!
this one is the best of them....my first scooby looked like a brown FROG!!!
