Any good ideas I have an order for a cake for a mother and son as they celebrate their birthdays on the same day Know nothing about him just know they want to mum and Pat.

looks like two b-day cards...
one mom to son
other son to mom? (and depending upon boy's age, could look hand-made)

(any more details re: ages, interests, etc.?)

which makes mom "of a certain age" (or should it be "of uncertain age"?)

>> two entwined heart cakes: one in vanilla (her's) and other chocolate (his)

>> two sheet cakes:

  • > cut in half on diagonal and staked w/ filling, then pushed back together to create one cake
    > 1/2 & 1/2 vanilla/chocolate
    > ice 1/2 & 1/2 vanilla/chocolate on diagonal.
    > her side, pretty colorful flowers (mums?!), his chocolate rosettes w/ cherry or strawberry in each.
    > central plaque w/ message

hmm.... that is definitely a question for the "Superstar"... Doug!

Seriously, I would do the b-day card idea.... it would work for an older son too.

I think that celebrating the love of mother and son is called for, especially in this case. My son was born the day before mine (he missed mine by a couple of hours)...... you could make a cake that says something like "No matter how old you get, you are always a part of my heart....."
