What is FBCT? I searched in the search tab and it brought up some old topics where is was just discussed and also some pics. So, I know what it looks like, but what is it and how do you do it? If anyone can lead me in the right direction, that would be great!

Thanks,

If you check the tutorials, there is one of FBCT. Check it out, you will love it!

An FBCT is a Frozen ButterCream Transfer. They are used alot in place of edible images. I believe there is a tutorial in the articles section.

Great! I was able to find it. That is really neat! I am going to try it. When the transfer reaches room temp does it start to mess up and smear as it defrosts? Is it edible and does it just taste like the BC you started with? Sorry for all the questions.

No, it should not smear as it defrosts and yes, it tastes just live buttercream. I have only done it once and it turned out pretty good, my only suggestion would be once you have filled in all your colors, be very careful when smoothing it with a spatula. I stretched the icing and the transfer came out a little distorted. Good luck!!!

When you put it on the cake, you have to move fast, it will thaw very quickly. Once it's on the cake and it thaws, it's done! There may be some condensation as it thaws, but I have never had one smear or have colors run. Once it comes to room temp, it's fine, no problems at all. And yes, it's perfectly edible, tastes just like BC!

The transfer will not bleed (will that will also depend on what brand of color you use, wilton tends to bleed. Americolor and chef master never had a bleeding problems)

FBCT will become soft after you place on cake. Yes you can eat it. they are fun to do.

Good luck.

also check out the other topics under "articles" to help with lots of other stuff.

Here is the link to the CC acronyms. It has taken me forever to remember what everything means and sometimes I still have to refer back to the list. Hope this helps!

I think I'm the only one that has trouble with the colors transferring. icon_sad.gif I work and work and work to try to get rid of any imperfections by using a sponge roller after the FBCT is frozen and transferred to the cake. When I roll over (especially the dark colors) they stick to the roller and end up on other parts of the cake. I fix it by laying a Viva papertowel on top and running my hand over it. The Viva lifts off all unwanted colors though. Maybe I'm being to picky with my transfers icon_redface.gif .

"justsweet" ~ I have some Americolors but I'm trying to use up my Wilton supply. Maybe I just need to throw out my Wilton colors tapedshut.gif (Don't tell my DH icon_lol.gif )

Here's another tutorial:
