Ok, so I am new to this area of baking. icon_redface.gif What are the differences between fondant and gum paste. I have worked a little with fondant but not at all with gum paste. What are their differences as far as when to use, how long it will keep ect. I will be making a wedding cake for my best friend and would like to make some things ahead of time. (considering I am the matron of honor, and we are throwing the wedding together in 7 weeks time icon_eek.gif ) Any guidance would be helpful.

Welcome to cake central. There is a search button above that will give you links to a gizillion questions and answers about decorating.

gumpaste is similar, but you can roll it thinner and it dries faster and harder. Generally, it is used for flowers and decorations.
