I am decorating an oval cake with whipped topping, and would also like to add some whipped topping roses. Can I add icing sugar to the whipped topping to make it thick enough to do roses? Or, will the icing sugar just wreck the whipped topping? Thanks

I was able to pipe roses from the whipped icing. I would try it plain. Adding sugar could be a last resort.

I haven't tried it, but have read other post where people are able to do it.

I wouldn't do it. It will taste badly (my opinion) I don't think the 2 should ever be mixed, or put on the same cake.

I don't have any pictures of my roses, but I think they are easier with the whipped stuff. I learned with it, so that is what I got used to.

I use a flower nail, put a blob of frosting on it, and then make my petals around it. I work with it slightly frozen (I always use the prewhipped stuff that is already mixed and comes in a bucket)

I would ssuggest putting it in the freezer for 20 minutes before making the roses.
