My 4 year old son is insulin dependent diabetic. I am wondering about the diabetic cake recipe and icing recipe on this site. My son's insulin is monitored by carb intake. I don't see anywhere where it tells how many carbs are in these recipes. This year will be his first birthday since being diagnosed and I want to make sure that he has the cake he wants since he has to pass on so many other things. Can anyone help me? Thanks so much in advance from me and my son!

You would probably benefit from a recipe software that does nutritional calculations. However, you should be able to get diet appropriate cake suggestions from the nutritionist in your local hospital diabetes program.

I am not insulin dependant (so far) but the nutritionist was very helpful and had lots of "safe" recipes.

YOU CAN ALSO CHECK ON THE SPLENDA.COM WEBSITE FOR DIABETIC CAKES AND ICING RECIPES. MY HUSBAND IS DIABETIC AND I DO GO ON THERE FOR IDEAS. I AM NOT SURE OF THE RECIPES ON HERE BECAUSE I HAVEN'T REALLY HAD THE TIME TO TRY THEM. SORRY I COULDN'T BE OF MORE HELP!

If you need to calculate the grams of carb in a recipe, you can also take the ingredients' individual carbohydrate content and add together for a total, divide total by number of pieces cut. Once you do it a few times, it gets easier, and you can do your own nutritional analysis on any recipe. Helpful site if no label for nutrient info: http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/search/

Other web pages (that you're probably already aware of!!)
