I am Lisa, 36, SAHM to Katie (13), Nick (9), Emma (3) and Gabby (9/16/05), wife to Dennis, my high school sweetheart. We just had our 15 year wedding anniversary!
I have wanted to take Wilton's classes for awhile...something always got in the way. I finally got to do it in March, and discovered I LOVED the hobby! So the rest is history!
I have a B.S. degree in criminal justice...someday I would like to put that to use by opening a mystery bookstore (okay, that doesn't have anything to do with my degree )!
I can usually be found behind the wheel of the minivan driving my kids to various sporting/school events (ie Taekwondo, soccer, ballet, drama), in front of the computer (usually with the baby chewing my booby), reading a mystery, or BAKING!
I have been dieting (down 11 pounds), and haven't had any cake in 10 days (KILL ME)!
I don't really have a nickname, but my three year old has recently taken to calling me by my first name. WTH is THAT all about? She has been calling my husband BABE, b/c that is what I call him.

My name is Kim and I'm 32. I'll have been married for 11 years on the 22nd to my highschool sweetheart. We have 3 kids: our son is 7 and our daughters are 5 years and 18 months. The 18 month old is my sleepless wonder so when the kids start school I'm in for it since I won't have the kids to help entertain her.
I was blessed enough to switch to a position that allows me to work from home when my oldest was a baby. I've worked for my company for 12 years. It is very nice to have the flexible schedule but I often pull the graveyard shift working into the wee hours of the morning.
I started decorating cakes for my children's birthdays and love the hobby. I wanted to take classes but have been unable to. But thanks to the advice of several CC members I've purchased the Wilton course books and am trying to teach myself for now.
Random stuff: I'm painfully shy but often desperate for a little adult conversation. Most of my time is spent taking care of the family and working. In those rare times that I get "me" time (when I'm not on this site) I like to read but I usually fall asleep if I sit still for more than a few minutes. 
The only nickname I have is Dory (as in Finding Nemo). My husband gave me the nickname because I can be scatterbrained at times - it's probably the sleep deprivation! I know when I'm being forgetful because he'll start singing "just keep swimming, just keep swimming" from the movie.

I started decorating cakes 7 years ago when I got married and none of the british cakemakers were prepared to make me a cake that had one tier in sponge and still looked like an English Wedding cake. I work as a cashier for the City of Tucson. I met my husband within a month of getting this job. He always tells me that I came into his life 10 years too late because he wishes that my daughters were his, biologically.
I got into cake decorating because I wanted to be the one to make my daughters' birthday cakes. I really don't like store bought cakes.

I am 41(how did that happen?) I have been married to my highschool sweetheart for 22 years. We have a son 21, a daughter 17, and our youngest is a 9 year old girl. We have also been foster parents for the last 10 years so there are other children who I feel are mine even though my blood doesn't run through them, just my love. I have been a SAHM for the last 15 years.
I started cake classes back in March 2006. I have taken all three courses. I do special events for our church and also do catering. I love decorating however I have a perfection thing and I get really stressed over cakes.

I'm Julie and I just found this site a few weeks ago and am HOOKED!
I am 35 years old. Was born and raised in Atlanta & lived there until about 8 months ago when I moved to Northwest Arkansas. My fiancee is originally from AR & decided he wanted to go to Law school, so we moved here last year.
We are getting married August 5...OMG only a little more than 2 weeks away! It's my first marriage (and hopefully the only one) and I am going to make the wedding cake. It's going to be a small affair....just 30 people or so. Anyways, when I tell people I'm making my own cake, they look at me like I've grown a 3rd eyeball. But I explain to them that it's actually therapeutic and helps to keep me from stressing out over other stuff.
One confession: I've never made a wedding cake before. I've been a baker for about 10 years & have made plenty of b'day cakes and cakes just for fun. HOWEVER, I've been researching and practicing cake recipes and frosting recipes & I've got my frosting recipe & my cake (I think...I may practice one more recipe this weekend). I've practiced on real cakes and dummy cakes, BUT I have a secret weapon. My Mom used to be a cake decorator & she's going to help me. Wish me luck!
By day, I am a trainer with the University of Arkansas and provide computer training and Spanish training.
Anyways, I've really enjoyed reading all these posts! Anyone out there live in Arkansas?

I just opened my own decorating business....called Piece of Cake by Heather. Im legal and have a liscense and even my own little work space

My name is Tracey. I'm 31 and I live in Winter Garden, Florida- it's a small town about 30 min west of Orlando. I'm a single mom with a daughter who's turning 10 in September. She was my reason for learning to make cakes. I always hated to buy her birthday cakes at Publix so I took the classes at Micheal's 2 years ago and that was the beginning of my addiction. I mostly do cakes for friends and family but have on occasion gotten paid for my cakes.
As for interests and such. I am a long distance runner in my 'free' time. Which is what my avatar is all about. 26.2 miles is the distance of a marathon. I run an average of 1 full marathon and 5 half marathons each year. This year I'm training to run the Las Vegas Marathon. I'm not very fast but for me that's not what it's all about. My motto is, "Not as fast but just as far." I won't win but I will finish!
I also enjoy coaching cheerleading at my daughter's school and getting together with friends to work on scrapbooks.
The nickname Gidget comes from being short (5 ft) and energetic (the cheerleader in my never died!!). I've been told I remind people of Gidget and it's stuck over the years.

I started doing cakes when son was around 6 I got a cookbook that had a racetrack cake in it He really wanted it I had my hand in splints Tendon crap 
hands hurt bad had my cousin came to help with the cake son totally loved it made his cakes after that then my daughters but finally started classes a few monthes ago completed 1 @ 2 waiting for enough people for course 3 I may take 2 over again to get royal icing right and of course practice practice practice

I graduated from college 8 years ago with a degree in Psychology, and worked in investment banking (I know, the job had nothing to do with the degree!!!) for 7 years. I quit my banking job last year to go back to school to be a nurse (I've always wanted to do that). I will graduate from nursing school in Spring 2008. I want to be a pediatric nurse (either neonatal intensive care, pediatric oncology, or nurse anesthetist).
I learned everything I know about cake decorating from my mom, who has had a cake business out of her home for the last 15 or so years. I've been helping her with cakes for as long as I can remember and I decided to start my own business about 4 years ago. My mom and dad live about 2.5 hours away, so it's not like my mom and I are competitors or anything.
My hobbies: cake decorating, traveling, reading, going to the movies, and spending time with my husband and our beautiful golden retriever, Tucker.

I am 33 yo, very soon to be 34! And DH and I will be celebrating our 16th wedding anniversary in September (got married 1 month after 18th b-day, 4 mos after HS graduation!)
I have an 8 yo daughter (Ryann) and a 6 yo son (Ethan). I am a Stay home Mom, and very excited tha my baby will start Kindergarten in 10 days!
My hobbies include activities w/ my kids, cake decorating, and I love to cook! (hate to clean though! LOL!)
I have been decorating cakes for about 15-20 yrs, but only decorating seriously for about 10. I used to be the head decorator at my local grocery before my daughter was born and I chose to stay home with my kids!
