I didn't follow the whole FoodNetworks new TV star but saw in on occasion.
It was close between the two guys and I saw the other day that they were announcing his show coming up.
They guy that got it was the one with the white, slivery spikey hair.
I didn't care much for him, so I don't think I will be watching... Sorry for those who like him, he just doesn't click with me.
Anyone like him? Dislike him? Will be watching him?

Semi-homemade with Sandra Lee (on occasion, can't take too much of her)

My favorites are Good Eats & Ham on the Street. I like Sugar Rush, but everytime I watch it its a rerun.
I can not wait to watch the new shows that are coming out. Alton Browns show will be Hitting the Asphalt (I think thats the name of it) I love him! & look forward to his new show.
The guy who won, his name is Guy Fieri, his show started on 6/25. Guys Big Bite, they called it. He is 'out there' but fairly entertaining.
I love Alton Brown, he makes everything so interesting and he's a neat freak like me...I would watch him burn toast
Giada is great too.
Sandra Lee, IMO is just filler....no real cooking at all.
Paula Deen is a hoot! Must have tons of butter on hand

I find Giada De Laurentis kind of pretentious.

I'm with the majority in that Sandra Lee is just "too much... whatever"
I hardly ever get to watch FoodTV but when I do these are my favs:
Tyler Florence Food 911 (is he/this show still around, haven't seen it in ages)
Rachel Ray (in small doses)
Barefoot Contessa
Paula Deen (though I meet her in person and wasn't impressed - a bit phony - I still like her show)
I like Good Eats, Paula Deen, Barefoot Contessa and one of my very very favorites (I don't think he is on anymore 
) was The Surreal Gourmet.
I love Paula - she has great recipes. My other favs would have to be Alton Brown and the Food Network Challenges.
I also love Paula..she just seems so real. My favorite is Ina Garten. I LOVE her..
As for Sandra Lee, I have to say, she makes some really yummy looking stuff. A friend of my son participated in a photo shoot for her new book and the mother of this child told me that Sandra was about the nicest person she'd ever met and treated her son like gold. So she's okay in my book

I agree with you darandon, those shows are my favorits and I love Alton Brown. I can't stand Rachel Ray......she drives me nuts with all her hand and arm movements. She's got great ideas - especially 30 min. meals - but if I could just tie her arms down when she starts a show - it would help a lot! I guess she wouldn't be as effective taped to a chair with duct tape...lol. As far as Emeril - I really hated him for a long time untill I found out about all he did for victims of Huricane Katrina...and all of his employees affected by it, I've found a new respect for him.
I love love love Paula Deen! She's a trip! Her sons have a show coming out also..I love them also! I like Giada also. I've tried a couple of her dessert recipes..yummy! I like any kind of Food Challenge Contest that has to do with baking. Don't care much for Rachel,Ina or Emeril. I like Tyler when he's by himself..not with the lady Jack. Sandra Lee is ok but I've never made any of her stuff.
My favs are Ham on the Street, Good Deal w/ Dave Lieberman (not on much), barefoot contessa and Paula Dean and Rachel Ray. I think the show w/ her 2 sons looks pretty interesting along w/ the new alton brown show.
Sandra Lee irritates the crap out of me and I don't like Giada either she is too snobby for me.
Oh I almost forgot anything w/ Tyler Florence ..he's a babe.
Have you all seen the new show on TLC- Take Home Chef. I like that that show too, plus he is nice to watch.
I have a problem with the lighting on Everyday Italian and Barefoot Contessa...the dull, soft lighting and the sound of their voices never really changing pitch kinda makes me want to go to sleep. I don't pay much attention to Sandra Lee. I love Paula Deen and her entire family! I like Alton too...he's funny to watch and at some moments, I actually think he's sexy in a wierd kinda way (have you noticed he has nice hands but not in a "girly" nice hands kind of way)! Rachel Ray is annoying with all the facial expressions and fake enthusiasm over EVERY bite she takes in EVERY restaurant. I would love to see just once when she gets this awful puckered up, snarled looked on her face as she bites into something that really isn't good and watch her suffer through the scene!! I've seen her take more than one little bite of an item only a couple of times out of the hundreds of episodes she's done...I'd be as big as a house trying to scarf down all that food if it's really as good as she makes it appear!!

I am not all that impressed w/ the new guy. he doesn't seem to have as much enthusiam as he did when he was trying to win the show. Boring to me really.
Well, since he just started, I'll give him a chance..I'm sure he didn't win for nothing. I have not even see his show.

ok, gotta chime in. Guy Fieri from Guy's Big Bite is quite a character....in real life. Only saw his first show (didnt watch the 'next food network star' show) but I work in promotions in radio in Santa Rosa where Guy is from...we're really a smallish community and Guy has been in the station and on air with us lots of times and he's very funny and very nice ...he IS larger than life which I didnt think comes across on his show. He is always the first one to volunteer catering for non-profit events etc. My only ding on him would be that he's kind like a grown up frat boy. Guy has already recorded a new 1 hr. show on kitchen gadgets. And tell is that he makes cooking more approachable for men ...for what thats worth
I also met the Nathan guy who didnt win the reality show, him I liked a lot very alton brown in his approach
Now I LOVE Alton and Im tickled pink that Duff Goldman looks like he'll be doing a cake show
I haven't seen Guy's show yet and missed this year's Food Network star. I like Ina Garten even though she seems a bit foofy (friends with Martha Stewart) but she always has booze and good chocolate and has fairly easy and down to earth recipes. I don't want to make alot of meals with stuff I don't have on hand or cannot get (Emeril). I like Alton Brown, the cinematography of his show is great. Sweet Dreams I don't even think is on anymore, I had it on Tivo and haven't seen anything in awhile. It was on at 4 a.m. for awhile! I like Rachael Ray, surprised to see she is not very popular here. I don't usually watch her but she's cute. Yes, she can be overzealous which gets annoying. I like Paula Deen because she seems sweet and has some good recipes. I can't stand Giada DeLaurentiis, that smile is actually irritating, woman has too many teeth 
You want people to take you seriously then put on a shirt that doesn't have so much cleavage. She and Sandra Lee repeat themselves too much; actually alot of the hosts have the same phrase they say too much.

Wow, I am surprised that a lot of you don't like Giada... I didn't like her at first, but then liked her as I watch more of her... I like some of her recipes, especially the Frittatas!!!! Yummy!
