I Know that's a strange question, but... I found a very funny recipe in Dr Oetker "MOde Torten", which is called Milky Way Cake. It has nice Milky Way and black chocolate cream, yogurth cream and layer of gellied peaches. Now the problem is that I am planning to use it for the a little bit diffrent cake, which I make for BQ party. My DH and I were inviteted to his friend's place, where the whole bunch of friends belonging to "Club" (in generally listening to death metal and loving horror films. I just don't know how else to call it). So I want the black chocolate or red cake(haven't decided yet), Milky Way cream, crisom yogurth cream and.... yellow peaches don't mingle! So I had a bright idea to dye them bloody red too. The cake would be covered with black/chocolate fondant and decoration should be scullish-halloweenish one. Have any of you dyed peaches (those from can in sirup) before??? would the red food colouring do the trick? I want as well to add some red food colouring to the gelly itself, so I will get nice and dramatical look. Would be grateful for any suggestions!
Thanks a bunch
Kasia

I suggest you try one and see. you will get lots of staining on teeth and lips, but maybe that is what you want?

Put a couple of slice in a bowl and add coloring. I would use a liquid color if you have it.

I think it should - kinda dry one off and then paint it if all else fails.

How about blood oranges? Hee hee.
Seriously, it won't work. They're already yellowish, so the most you could hope for is orangey if you try to dye them red.
Any other fruit options?

well... nothing that comes to me... the good think about peaches is their structure... pretty fleshy... but maybe I would just use cherry juice to colour the gelly and peaches will have to stay yellow... I was thinking about raspberries, but they aren't as stable as peaches...
Anyhow... I will give peaches a try... just leave them to soak overnight in cherry juice with some extra red food colouring... and will see... I have experimentator nature, but thanks a lot for all your tips! I will let you know how and if my idea worked
JoAnnB... hmmm there will be a bunch of males, so I don't think that they would bother icon_razz.gif

I work in food service and we use pears and just sprinkle cherry flavored jello over them and it makes a real nice red color. So if you don't have to use peaches theres ya another optionicon_smile.gif

Irisinbloom, that's a great idea! Thanks a bunch! I will try both options! Still have some time for experiments. I am really getting excited about making this cake! icon_biggrin.gif

I would make sure to pat the peaches/pears dry with paper towels and then soak them. I think they would absorb more color that way.
Good luck and please post a picture when finished!!
