My 4 year old DD just ran crying into her room, yelling "You don't understand me!!!" ![]()

Okay, I have to admit it made me laugh. But if she's this tempermental at 4 can you imagine what she'll be at 14??? I fear I doomed with this kid.
The other day I was going to make cookies and told the kids that if they wanted to help they had to clean their mess in the living room. My 7 yr. old son cleaned no problem, but DD says to me "Mom, Hello! you don't make cookies in the living room."
I have a 15 yr. old living in a 4 yr. old body, I'm in so much trouble!!!

That is sooooo cute - well to me anyways. It seems girls find all the ways to push buttons!! I know my stepdaughter (who I have known since she was 3) has pretty much always been tempermental. She is now 10 (30) and still knows how to push buttons. The trick is not responding to it???
I just don't always know how not to. ![]()
I can relate! My 4 y/o daughter is that way. To quote Martina McBride, "she's a wild one with an Angel's face." A week after she cut her hair herself, she told me "Well, if YOU hadn't left the scissors out in the FIRST place, I wouldn't have cut my HAIR in the first place."
Since when is put up with the art supplies on the back of a high countertop "left out" ???
Good luck!
SO FUNNY ![]()
mine (5 yr old) asked me yesterday if she could watch do the chocolate & i said yes but you can't touch it or the table & you have to be quite---she informed me that--"mom we don't make our own rules"
what the heck..i informed her that i was the mama & i made the rules & so did daddy....come to find out it was something that was being taught a bible school about following directions & not doing what you wanted ----well at least she listened ![]()
Anna, my 4 year old will be the death of me. I actually called my mom last week and apologized for being such a sarcastic child, okay and adult. Anna took me to the brink that day and I finally realized she is mini me.
My mom, God love her said oh honey I don't remember you being that bad. Gotta love her cause I KNOW i was.
I swear the minute that child turned 4, she became a teenager. She'll even ignore you when it suits her. I mean full on ignore...nose in the air, head turned away from you and hands on hips.
But for the most part she's very sweet. A few nights ago we were watching a movie, snuggled on the couch, when she starts fidgeting. After 5 minutes of me telling her to keep still, she looks at me and says "Here's your pizza". "Ummm, okay. What kind of pizza is it?" I asked. "Pizza mind" she tells me. ![]()

She had heard me telling DH how it was nice to be able to put some money into our savings, how it was giving me some "peace of mind". It was so cute.
it wasnt the age of 4 here.... it is 8...... my 6 year old is just an angel, my 15 year old is the "devil" so it's just natural for me to get the "normal" child (if there is one) and it be my 8 year old.......
I would love to have SuperNanny here... my kids would probably send her off screaming and retiring... ![]()
I would also love to do Wife Swap...... my family has it too easy....
Boys are harder for the first 8 years, girls harder for the teenage years.
Oooh, so you're saying I'm getting close??? With three boys and a stepson, I guess I should count my blessings. But I still yearn for a precious little girl to take shopping for her first bra someday.
DH tells me I should be careful what I wish for, and if what all my friends who have daughters say is true (as well as you guys), maybe he's right! My stepson is 18, then the ages go 8, 4 1/2, and 19 months. So according to your study, I've only got about 6 1/2 years of hard work left, right? Oh, but what about when they get their license??? Boys are much worse drivers than girls, and there's the whole worry factor there! Yeah, I'm thinking that girl sounds better and better! (Not that there's nothing to worry about with a beautiful teenage daughter running around, right?!) ![]()
The boys may give you problems with the driving, but an old saying from a friend comes to mind...
"With a boy, you have to worry about 1 (private).. with a girl, you have 100 to worry about."
Once our neice hit puberty, it's been nothing but boy-crazy nonsense. Her twin brother blushes around girls, that's about it.
My baby cousin (3) is like that!! She can be a little brat! And her mommy doesn't spank her. Only the occasional "pop". But through all the bad she is very sweet.
Maybe she is just wanting your attention.
Zmama- My brother is about to turn 8. So we only have 1 more year of his attitude? lol I don't think i'm a bad teenager. Course, since i'm homeschooled I am not "influenced" by other teenage girls.
Jami
My son is almost 8, and this year his attitude has really evolved for the better. At this age, they seem to find themselves a little more, become more secure, and it helps that they aren't ready for girls yet. He can finally go fishing without getting bored in ten minutes, actually help in the kitchen, is responsible enough to ride his bike to school, and basically he is getting the understanding and maturity to start "man training." He has ADHD and was on meds from 5 to 7, but as the maturity started kicking in, he is able to get off of them and control himself. There is a light at the end!
From the mother of a 10 year old red hair blue eyed little girl whom when she was three told me that i could not tell her what to do because i was not the boss of her. THe reason because god and jesus were the only ones that made the rules and she did not have to do what i told her to do. SO after i broke out the 10 conmandments and stresses the honor your mother and father !!! we tried about 10 seconds of ivory soap. Now each time she back talks all i have to do is threaten her with it...... good luck they say you gegt back what you gave your parents 10 fold looks like i amd in trouble
good luck they say you gegt back what you gave your parents 10 fold looks like i amd in trouble
So this is why DD never stops talking....my mother says I never shut up as a kid, DH says it continued into my adulthood. ![]()
