If anyone could help me ASAP I would be forever in your debt!!!! I made such a stupid mistake, and i'm hoping this doesn't ruin my cake! I forgot to grease & flour my pan before I put the batter in....does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the darn cake out of the pan now?! It's a 16" square cake, so I'm worried about tearing it. PLEASE HELP!!! icon_cry.gif

You can take a knife around the edges of the pan so it doesn't stick there. As for the bottom of the pan - make sure it is good and cool and pray! Maybe stick it in the fridge or freezer so it firms up good.

Good Luck!

You're not a bonehead...it happens. The sides will probably be fine but the bottom...it will likely stick. Some untested ideas if it does...

Bake it a little longer. Maybe the bottom will crust really well and stick less.

Loosen the sides and freeze the cake in the pan. After it's frozen, dip the bottom in hot water and then try to pry it out.

Loosen the sides and try sliding a long angled spatula underneath to loosen the bottom.

I have no idea if any of these will work. If they don't, you can always frost the cake while it's in the pan and then eat it or get it out and make lots of cake balls.
