There are several sources for fondant. Although Wilton doesn't taste as good as the others, it is very easy to use. You can buy it many craft stores and cake supply stores. It is usually less expensive than other brands.

However, it is easy to make your own. the recipe for Marshmallow Fondant (MMF) is here in the recipe file. Be careful NOT to add all the powdered sugar in the recipe. The dough may not need all of it. If you add too much, your fondant will be too dry to be useful.

There are also recipes in baking911.com

I think MMF is a great place to start when using fondant, it is easy to make and very inexpensive.

Wilton is a great place for learning what the stuff should feel like and how it should act, it isn't how ever a good tasting fondant.

Satin ice is a good fondant its alittle harder to work with, but it taste much better then wiltons and its not that much more expensive.

Now i just recieved my order of Choco-pan and let me tell you this is the best tasting fondant i have ever tasted, what it is going to be like to cover a cake with it i don't know, as its pretty soft. Didnt help any that it was sitting on my door step when i got home from work and it was melted (it was almost 90 here yesterday)

I make my own MMF except when it comes to red and black. I buy those colors in Satin ice from the local cake supply shop, which is cheaper than online for me. I am thinking about trying the purple and blue, why fool with making dark colors if they are already made for you.
