They are essentially sparkly piping gel. I haven't used them myself, but they look really interesting, and they are flying off the shelves at the Michaels where I work! I noticed them when we first got them on a Saturday morning, and by Saturday afternoon, they were all gone but for one! I think they'd look fantastic on white buttercream.

Anyone else actually used them?

They sound really cool! I've never heard of them but would like to try them. I'd also like to hear if anyone has tried them and what your experiences were. icon_smile.gif

theCakerator, I agree the gel makes a great writing medium. Does it come in a tube so all you have to do is squeeze?

I thought they were just lustre dusts. I saw 6 new colors, mostly heavy metals and pearls. Is this the same product or are you speaking of something different?

I just used the blue glitter gel as water on my flip-flop cake. I should've used more - I loved it! It was very pretty and not see-through so I didn't have to worry about the pink fondant showing through. I will buy more colors and think of ways to use them...

thanks for the compliments every one ... and yes it does come in a tube and it seemed to work much better for me personally then say writing with a regular disposable bag because I tend to have a hard time getting my letters to stop where I want them too and with this tube all I did was let up on the pressure and the gel was almost "sucked" back up! I have it in blue, yellow, and red .... sure would be nice if more colors became available!!

Nope, these are a different product. What you saw were the new Wilton pearl dusts (about time, too!) and they are just like luster dust.

The sparkle gels come in tubes and they are like piping gel, but with sparkles. In our store, they are hanging near the silicone cupcake liners and other cupcake supplies. Four colours, I think, blue, red, yellow, and green.

Definitely in my future...

ps - beautiful cake, Cakerator!
