What do you charge for them? They seem like a LOT of work and I have never done them before and have NO idea what to charge. I have someone that might (love that don't you?? I "might" want this or that.. grrrrrrrr.. but I digress) want 10 mini-cakes for a party. 3" round.. fondant with single flower on top and a ribbon at the base. I have NO clue.. but I know that they are going to be hard and time consuming.. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well think of how many cakes you can get out of one mix, and the price of that. Also, you will have to add extra $ because it will take longer to bake them unless you have 10 pans...and then, you need to see how long it would take to ice them and the price of fondant and ribbon. I would think no less than $10-$15 each, or more, but im no expert. HTH

It is faster to bake a sheet cake and cut the circles from that. however, I agree on $10 MINIMUM for each.

I charged $12 for the mini cakes in my gallery. I think anywhere from $10-$15 is the rate in my area.

I think the 10$ minimum is generous. These are very time consuming and not many people do these - or do these well. As a very wise cake lady once said - if you're not too thrilled to do something, up the price - then you'll either not have to do it, or you'll get paid enough to make it worthwhile.

My mini's are oblong, but about that size. You are right...they take a LOT of time. To me it's easier to cover them with fondant than to try to get the buttercream completely smooth. I charge $12.00 each. You're right Dydemus...I really don't like doing them so I charge more than most folks would like to pay!!

Thanks everyone.. I was planning on the sheet cake and cutting them out with biscuit cutters so I am glad that will work well.. I'll let you know if I end up doing them.. How tall do you think they should be.. the same size as they are round? Or taller?

I love that - that's exactly the way I think but she's worded it so well...I think that's my new motto - lol.
