I was making a cake with black fondant (SatinIce to be exact) and the cornstarch I threw on my table to roll it out on kept getting all over it. I had white spots and streaks all over the fondant. I tried to just wipe it off, but it was still noticeable. I ended up mixing some black coloring and vodka and painting over all the black fondant. Any tips on how to work with black fondant and keep it black? Thanks!
I have had the same problem, an at the sametime the black fondant became too soft.
Sorry no help here ![]()
I roll it out on a plastic sheet rubbed with shortening. No powdered sugar, no cornstarch.
Thanks. That's what I was thinking I would try next time I work with it. ![]()
I also used the plastic sheet with Crisco. You might can still find it in the sewing section at Walmart.
I recently in the past month or so, bought a roul pat working mat!!!
It's heaven - you don't have to use anything when rolling out the fondant. Learned about it on CC. This place is truly an invaluable place for knowledge, tips and ideas!!!!! ![]()
I use my Wilton Fondant Mat, rubbed with a little Crisco and a little more Crisco on my hands.
I've also wiped off small cornstarch streaks with a very slightly damp paper towel.
