I was wondering what kind of glass you guys have used to do your frozen buttercream transfers. Where did you buy it from and how big is it.

I would like to play around and try this but I don't know what kind of glass I could get to go into the freezer.

Thanks
Joanne

Yes, I was told you should use glass so you can see through it better. Also if you use celo wrap it keeps it really smooth and comes off nicer then wax paper or parchment paper.

I don't use glass, I use the back of a cookie sheet or jelly roll pan...but if you want to use glass instead I guess I'd just invert a pie pan or baking dish.

I don't use glass either-I use a cake board covered with wax paper, However I just bought a piece of plexi-glass and am wanting to try it for a FBCT.

You can buy a cheap picture frame and use the glass from it, though I'd cover the edges with something.

I just use a piece of cardboard, with my picture taped to it and a piece of wax paper over that.

I use a cheap transparent plastic cutting board. It's not as clear as glass, of course, but I can get a general idea of what my FBCT will look like.

I have a piece of plexiglass that I picked up precut at Lowes for about $2 or $3. The person who demostrated this for our cake club used the plexiglass so I have never tried any other medium.

I use plexiglass.

Make sure you get a couple of different sizes.

let me add my 2 cents too; I used to use a cake board, covered with wax paper; I have switched to plexiglass too; I don't think I'd like using glass.. I'd always be afraid that it might break if I bump it taking it in & out of the freezer.

I use a pyrex glass cutting board. I bought the biggest one I could find. I like it because I can hold it up to the light to see if I missed any spots.

Thanks guys! I think the idea of going to get plexiglass in different sizes is a super one.

I'm going to try that.

glass can crack and shatter if put in the freezer. plexiglass is safer if you want to see through it. I just use a cake board myself and lift up the corner to see how it's doing.

Are you covering the plexiglass with something? I honnestly can't imagine just using plexiglass. I mean, how do you get the transfer off?

You would put your wax paper on the plexiglass. But that means you have to keep re-aligning your image too if you don't have your image taped to the board as well. Which is why I usually just use a cake board and pull the edge of the wax paper up to see how the image is coming along.
