i'm very new at decorating cookies. I bought lustre dust to use on a set of seashell cookies and when i tried to apply it with a brush, it was streaky.

is there an easier way to get a shimmery/sparkly effect on royal iced cookies?

I don't have any pics posted.....but I tried using those little black foam brushes.....I think you get like 10 for $1 at michaels and it gives it a better coat. It's spreads it more evenly.

Hi, icon_biggrin.gif
I ice my cookies w/ Fondant and Lustre Dust works wonders on my cookies. Did you mix it w/ any liquid ? Royal icing when dry on cookies is very slippery and smooth. Do you want to paint the entire cookie ? or just some design you have on it ? If you look at my photos, I have Green Cookies w/ green Fondant and Gold lustre in the middle. If you are interested in that, I can tell you how I made them...

Have a wonderful afternoon icon_smile.gif

I just wanted to add a shimmery accent. they were scalloped shaped sea shell cookies and i wanted to make the lines on them.

another Q....is there a difference between the regular (wilton) colored sugars and sparkle sugar? b/c i'm really just looking for a little razzle dazzle and sparkly sugar might do the trick for me.

hi. was your icing very dry? if some spots were wet it would take more colour. that could be why it was streaky.
