ok, to get dodibug off the hook (from getting a million pm's! LOL) here is the pattern i used. she sent me the page from her book, i cropped it down with some photo software i have and just kept the coral pattern. i used a number 3 tip and just piped it onto parchment paper.

the cake is iced in buttercream... i used a hot spackle knife to smoothe it. the color is aobut 2 toothpicks delphinium blue, 2 toothpicks sky blue, a good toothpick of royal blue and one small toothpick of leaf green.

Aawwww, alaskanmom icon_redface.gif That's so sweet! I was happy to help! And like I said in my e-mail-I love your cake! Beautiful and elegant!!!

I never thought about candy melts! I used royal and IHATEFONDANT is right about the heat right now! Candy melts for my winter cakes!!

A couple of tips I shared with alaskanmom-don't cry if the coral breaks coming off the wax paper-gives it some character, I dusted with super pearl luster dust before removing from the wax paper, I piped a couple of layers over the bottom section just for more stability.

Any other questions, just ask away! icon_biggrin.gif

I only had trouble with one coral breaking... i didn't lift them from above... what i did was put my hand under the parchment and gently pull and loosen it and it popped off. in fact the only time i broke one was holding it trying to put it on the cake! LOL. but like dodibug's hubby said... nature isn't perfect so neither should the coral be icon_lol.gif

You know, I guess I had more breakage because mine had to travel in containers to the reception site then get put on the cake! That was a loooong day but fun!

You're so sweet Molly2!

Your cake looks great and I can't believe that you got buttercream that smooth! Thanks for posting, I can use the coral on a little mermaid cake that I'm doing the end of the month. thumbs_up.gificon_lol.gif
