I am making a bridal shower cake for a customer, she wants butter cream frosting on a staked cake, I want to do criss cross fondant drapes with flowers in the opposite corners. (I hope that is not to confusing) But I am worried that the fondant will not stay put with the butter cream I have done this cake before with all fondant. I was thinking maybe I will have to put sticks to wrap the fondant around on the upper corners? What do you think.. Am I over thinking this, will it be fine. Uggh.. I dont want to drop off the cake and find that all the drapes fell... that would be horrible. Please any advise would be helpful.

Yes, you can. Look in my gallery at the Communion cake - it is buttercream with fondant drapes. I just layed the fondant on the buttercream and it didn't budge even in transport.

You absolutely can! The buttercream will hold it in place.
