I just wanted to share my exciting day. As of yesterday I now have a commercial kitchen to work out of. I have a friend who helped me get it. It is a coffee house/bar that used to serve food, but they are no longer using their kitchen.( which is up to code) They do serve deserts though. We approached them and asked if I could use it to do my cakes from. For payment, I offered to make his deserts for him to sell. Get this...he does NOT want any payment. He offered me the kitchen free and clear. There are some wonderful people out there who genuinly want to help others succeed. I am truly blessed. I'm soooooo excited that i'm finally going to be able to do my cakes legally. This just opened up a whole new door for me. Thank you for letting me share!!

Congratulations!! Your cakes are beautiful. I'm sure this is going to be a great stepping stone to success and what a wonderful gesture to let you use the kitchen free of charge. Keep us posted on your business!!

I was just wondering if you have kids and how that will work. THere is a place here with a legal kitchen that i've been thinking about using, but I don't know how I'd manage the time to do it. It takes so long to decorate them that I'd be there forever! Most of my decorating happens late at night just out of necessity. Just wondering if you or anyone else that uses another kitchen has any tips or pointers for making it work.

PS. congrats!

Thanks to everyone for your support. I'm really excited about the opportunity.

Peacockplace...to answer your question, I do not have children, so my time is pretty much my own. I do have a full time job, so i'm going to have to work around that, but i'm hoping to one day be able to do my cakes full time.

Patrice, I'm doing the Happy Dance for you! This just happened for me a few weeks ago, almost the same situation, so I know how excited you must be!! Now, get yourself some nice business cards, brochures, and little photo albums and Go, Girl!!

OH- Peacock, I do have 2 little ones. The sandwich shop I am working in is open until 7 W,Th, and F, so I go in at 6pm-ish after DH is home and we've eaten dinner. The owner lets me stay as late as I need to after she leaves, I just lock-up when I'm done. It works out nice because it is a very small kitchen, and if I were there during the day I'd be in their way. Hope that helps!
