Could someone share with me cookie bouquet 101. I made my first today and had a hard time keeping cookies on the stick....how thick do the cookies need to be, what's the best width of stick (and should it be wood?), how far into the cookie does the stick have to be...etc.....thanks for the help! There is a picture of it in my photos...

Thats really cute.

To bake the cookies on the sticks, i roll my dough about 1/4 inch thick. Then i use the paper cookie sticks, you could use wood, but you must make sure that you have enough dough around the stick to hold it in place. Also, make sure you insert your stick straight at least 1/2 way up the cookie.

one other thing, make sure you don't pick your hot cookie up by the stick, they can not be handled by the stick until compleatly cooled.

The cookies look very nice. i have successfully used lollipop sticks. The cookies should be about 1/4 inch thick for maximum stability.

Also, I insert the stick before baking. It works better.

thanks for all the suggestions! So I'm assuming those paper sticks are okay for the oven...do i have to soak them or anything? And do they come in varying sizes so i can acheive that flucutuating height thing in the pot?

The paper is fine. They don't stay in long enough to cause a problem. The sucker sticks are generally shorter, but I have seen them 8, 10, and 14? the shorter ones are more stable, but the longs ones can work fine, too.

I roll my cookies out 1/4 thick. I insert my sticks after baking, immediately after I pull out of the oven while still on the cookie sheet. I use popsicle sticks and wood coffee stirrer sticks. They work the best for me. And most definately let me them completely cool before you handle them. You can lift the cookie off the cookie sheet after a couple of minutes, using a spatula, but do not attempt to lift by stick, because they will break off.

I don't use the paper/lollipop sticks anymore because my cookies would spin around (most of cookies are pretty large). To get the varied height, I buy my coffee stirrers in various heights. I will also tape a second popsicle stick to get a longer length when assembling a bouquet.

By the way, I think you did a great job for your first. It gets addicting.
