Is it possible to mix fondant in a kitchen aid mixer or will that kill my mixer? I have a recipe that says to knead by hand, but im not sure how long that will take and I have an infant who needs my attention most of the time.

Should I just wait till he is asleep and knead it by hand? Or would it be ok in the mixer? I have a Pro 600 KA mixer.

Thanks

Erin

You can, using a dough hook, but I think it takes as long to clean it as it does to do it by hand. It makes it easier to prevent adding too much powdered sugar. I have a recipe that starts in the mixer and finishes on the worktop.

Neither way will take very long- maybe 15 minutes? If you should get called away suddenly, keep a very slightly moist towel nearby and just drop if over the dough.
