Anyone have any ideas how I could do a denim texture? Has anyone ever done it? I was going to try to make a cake with a pair of jeans and a belt with a giant belt buckle (inside joke) and I am trying to figure out how I would make the jeans.

Thanks all!

Maybe use paper towel with a texture on it, or take a piece of denim, washed and well rinsed and use that to rub onto the buttercream or fondant.

Yeah, that was the only thing I could think of was rubbing the jeans on it, but I don't know if I have any to rip up (I don't know how I would get my jeans up on there to do it. Any suggestions on that? I guess maybe I could just get a piece of denim for Joann's or something.

A piece of tulle or net might give you the same affect, tulle is what I used to texture the football in my photos, and it is similar to denim. Janice

Mixee,

If you are doing any work with fondant you can basically use the same tools or techniques as painting a wallicon_smile.gif

instead of paint use powdered food colouring mixed with lemon extracticon_smile.gif

Ralph Lauren paint website shows how to do any fabric technique on a wall so I dont see any issues doing something similar on fondant!icon_smile.gif

Basically all you need to do is paint your fondant and then come back with a course bristle brush to get the texture.

Was just a thoughticon_smile.gif

Good thought Jane, thanks.

I wasn't really thinking of using Fondant, but it might actually be an option. Depends on if the Buttercream transfer turns out ok or not...LOL...I am doing a Viva Las Vegas Belt Buckle only changing the wording...and I was going to do a 13 x 9" cake horizontally and doing the top and the zipper part as the cake itself and then do the belt and place the buckle in the middle.
But can I put the Buttercream transfer on fondant? I don't think it would stick very well...?
Thanks for the site.
