Hi im new here... and ive just finished my second fondant cake and im so happy with it. Ive been making cakes now for 2 months and have made about 8 so far. Ive been using buttercream but i often get the complaint its too sweet. So i thought id try fondant. and its been so much easier!!!!

Its for a Lady at work. she loves Roosters and i had no idea what to do for her. I know its not the classic rooster she loves but its close haha!

Great job!! You would never know you are just starting out! Be very proud of yourself and keep sending the pics. If you look in the recipes, there are some good one's for less sweet butter creams and do try the coffee creamers. It is yummy! Also try creme bouquet. It lightens the flavor of whatever you put it in. Hope this helps with your bc dilemma and again, great job. By the way, most people are "scared" of fondant and would not even attempt it this early in decorating. I for one am proud of you. I've been doing it a little over a year now and am just now starting to regularly play with it.

Well EVERYONE at work LOVED the cake. and it was sooooo yummy.... i found the recipe from this site... if only i could remember what one it was!!!! LOL!
Im finding it really hard to get supplies here as not many people will stock much stuff and wilton will not send directly to NZ!
Ive had a look at the online shopping here and will think about it.
I need to buy almost everything as i have no tools apart from an icing bag!
Where can i get all the tools from?

You're right it can be really hard to find good cake 'stuff' here in NZ. Trademe isn't bad (some good sellers are Cakeart and Bejewelled) I have found lots of good cheap stuff there but you have to be willing to trawl through the other stuff (1000's of edible images and choc moulds!). There is a good shop in Paraparaumu called The Coal Range, and if you are up Feilding way anytime there is the most bestest shop in the whole wide world, Rosebowl, though they also sell online. The secret of CC is slowly getting out in NZ, there are a few of us here. So I will see ya round! keep up the great work!

I would prefer to buy everything i need (well ok the basics lol) in one go but i dont think thats going to happen!!!
