Covering Cake Board With Fondant?

If I cover a round piece of cardboard with MMF and then place the cake on top of the board, how do I get the cake not to slide off the MMF board? Will some bc on top of the MMF hold the cake down? I wasn't planning on using an additional board under the cake since it's only a 7" round.
