You have to put in a LOT! The Americolor super black is way more concentrated and does better. Some people start with brown (even use cocoa powder) and then use the black to make it darker.
I'd say just keep adding more black and it may get wetter or sticky, so you will need more powdered sugar to compensate.
Good Luck!

you'll need to add cocoa powder to your fondant. get it a nice brown and then add your black. Its a very hard color to get. You're better off using Americolor to get blacks and reds. Good luck.

you can always try adding some cocoa powder too....especially after you put in a lot of coloring it will help with the fondant being sticky too!

almost impossible unless you use a whole jar then you will end up with a sticky mess...its easier to start with brown or just buy black fondant

I buy my black and red fondant already colored. It is the satin ice.

I think I would try making the black from chocolate fondant if there is a lot of black on your cake. I just tried making a black batch from regular mmf yesterday and no matter what I added, more crisco, more powdered sugar, it just would not get right, and I had to just throw it away, and use some buttercream instead. I was very upset! icon_cry.gif Hope you have better luck!

For my black, I start by using cocoa as some suggested. And I tell you, I LOVE Americolor Super Black! It kicks Wilton's tail when it comes to the blacks and the reds.

I have to use a lot of gel and usually get a great black. I have only needed smaller amounts of black MMF so it hasn't taken too much to achieve the deep black I wanted.

Ditto. That's the best way for these colors.
