Making a graduation cake for a co-worker's sister. She requested cream cheese icing. I am looking for some good cake recipes that will go well with the crusting cream cheese.
Banana cake or butter pecan cake are both great with cream cheese icing! Banana with cream cheese icing is one of my most requested cakes.
Strawberry cake is my favorite with cream cheese icing. Here is areally yummy moist recipe that is super easy:

1 pkg. plain white cake mix
1 3oz strawberry gelatin
1 C mashed strawberries w/ juice
1 C vegetable oil
½ C whole milk
4 eggs
Preheat oven to 350° Grease and flour pans. Mix all ingredients on low speed for 1 minute. Mix on high speed for 2 more minutes. Pour into pans. Bake 28-30 mins. Recipe fills 2 9-inch rounds.
I think that most cakes would taste good. I like chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting.

My favorites are Hummingbird, Carrot, Banana, or Devil's Food. I love cream cheese frosting, so I tend to use it with almost anything.
I love carrot & hummingbird But I think you can use anything.
Ooh I wanna make a banana cake!!! Sounds yummy!
I just made a cake today that tastes wonderful with the crusting cream cheese icing. It is the white almond sour cream cake with orange extract instead of the almond and cream cheese and raspberry filling and then iced in cream cheese - so delicious and a very summery tasting cake!
My vote for Red Velvet also! Kinda goes together like peanut butter and jelly to me....
DH Red Velvet cake mix
4 eggs
1 cup water
1 packet of Dream Whip
Blend all ingredients together on low speed (1 on KA 600). Mix at speed 4 for at least 5 minutes until creamy smooth.
Sarah's red velvet cake. The recipe is here on cakecentral. I used the crusting cream cheese with it and it was wonderful!
I use this one...It's yummy!!! http://www.cakecentral.com/cake_recipe-2047-Crusting-Cream-Cheese-Icing.html
So I have a question about cream cheese frosting. Can it stay out at room temp like BC or does it need to be refrigerated?
I would suggest a carrot cake/spice cake....but then again I saw a post mentioning a toasted butter pecan cake...those cakes are worthy of cream cheese frosting...but definately not a red velvet -- blech
