have to do this cake , i am thinking white chocolate cut to shape and airbrushed, any other ideas?

what about chocolate transfers.. you'd get the bold colors that way also... this looks very fun.. please post a pic!

You could also use fondant pieces airbrushed or, depending on the client, maybe roll out some sugar cookie dough or gingerbread, cut out your buildings, and ice and airbrush those.

where could i get these chocolate transfers? do i make them?? how do they come?

I would say either fondant or chocolate pieces - then airbrush the effect. Cool cake!

You could probably make your own. I would take acetate sheets and then airbrush the sheets with the design you would like using colored cocoa butter. Once those are set, you can pour your chocolate right over the top. Once cooled, peel off the acetate and then the cocoa butter design will be left on the chocolate. One thing to be careful about though is they type of airbrush you have, the cocoabutter is sometimes too viscous for some models of airbrushes.
** as a disclaimer, I have never done this, but I have read about it and heard that it works well, if anybody has anything they want to add, feel free icon_smile.gif

well, here is my version of colette peters skyline cake, i did the buildings a darker color. i will post a professional pic after the wedding tomarrow.

Wow, you did a great job there. Did you follow the directions in Colette's book? That cake was in one of her books, wasn't it? How did you do it?

no i contacted colette but she never got back to me. i ended up using chocolate and airbrushing.
