I have a good friend in FL and I would like to ship her a "decorated" cake - all she gets of mine are the pictures. Any suggestions, hints, tips? I live in KY and don't mind shipping overnight but still am concerned with how to package it. I have in mind to make the Wilton Carousel horse - she and I share a love of them and she doesn't know I've gotten that pan. Thanks to all and any who might be able to help. This is such a great site!
Maybe, and that's a big maybe, if it was a small round covered in fondant. With a dense cake like pound cake. But not a regular decorated cake.
Colette Peters ships cakes via Continental Cargo. She swears by them for getting cakes there intact. She recommends shipping box-in-box, with the inner box a tight fit to the cake and with lots of padding between the two boxes. Here's a link to their website:

I'm sure that it will cost a lot of $--maybe as much as a ticket on a discount airline.
If you e-mail Colette through her website, I bet you'll get an answer.

Good Luck!
