They rock! Great job...and yes, folks CAN eat them, though it is like eating old gum, in my opinion.

Hi Debbie2881:

The roses are very nice. Great job for your first time. thumbs_up.gif

No you can't eat gumpaste. I wondered the same thing myself, so I called the library and the librarian looked it up and said that it was not for eating, only decorating.

Great job! The one on the far right is your best. Just beautiful!
Gumpaste is made from edible products but once it has fully dried, you could never bite into it. It dries porcelain hard!

Thank you, that was my 3rd 1. i really like the 1st 1 as like the bud sort of at the end of a flower arrangement on a cake. i really dont like the 2nd (middle) 1. I used t he ball tool too much on that 1 and the petals really curved under.

These are small, have you guys every made ones that are the same size as real roses? if so how do you do it?

you can eat them. the dry hard, but are fragile, and when wet (like in your mouth!) they melt. but they aren't at all tasty.

Have you tried making them on wires? I find it far easier to make that way (I've got some photos of gumpaste flowers uploaded for reference)

but very good!!! you should experiment with coloring them with petal dust - that really brings them to life.

jmt1714 yours are beautiful. I have not tried them on wire yet. Do you do petal by petal? They take such a long time, i have no idea how people do this for wedding cakes where you have to do alot.

Do you gals know a faster way of doing them?

I cheat and use the 5 petal "Quickie Rose" cutter. You use 4 of them to make a large rose (about 5 inches).

I have the cutter so i'll try it that way and see if i like they way the rose comes out. Thanks
