Thanks for the links Jan...they open your eyes to things you would never even think about!!!! It's a scary cake world out there!!!. ![]()
(what happened to Cathy???)
also...
What do you mean by "save" posts?
Thanks!!
Irene
You're very welcome, Irene.
Before I came to CC, I had no idea what decorators had to contend with, i.e., the haggling, no advance notice and unrealistic expectations, and the rudeness (no call-no show's) and so forth ...
Cathy might be back, but Liev reminds me of my younger son. ![]()

I dont want to cause a heated debate regarding non licensed homebakers (that is not my point here) but how does everyone feel about having a contract and not being a licensed bakery? I was just asked to do my first wedding cake and I would like to have some type of contract with her, just so everyone knows what they are getting, but I am not a legal business (she knows that). It just sort of feels weird because what if there actually was a problem between the two of us, would that come into play at all that I wasnt a business? Just curious.

I don't think it's wise to have a contract between you and a client if you are not licensed with insurance. In the event of a lawsuit, they will go after you
personally. At this point my stuff is in the works...food handlers course/applications/etc....
But, until I am legal...I am working out of my BIL's restaurant...I'm basically his employee until I get on my own.

I agree with Adven68....although even if you do have a contract and you're a legal business, anyone can still sue you personally. I've rec'd so many calls lately for wedding cakes (and I'm not legal....yet), so I'm going to put together an agreement similar to the one Kelly provided.....and although it's not legal and binding (since I'm not registered in Ohio), it still provides a good "summary" of what we agreed on, etc. I just submitted my paperwork to the state this week! Yeah!
