Another Way For Red Red Icing...

I was talking to one of the ladies I go to for my cake supplies and was talking about getting the red icing without the bitter taste. She informed me, bless her heart to use red powder and red red gel.

First, make your icing. Then mix in the powder really good. Once that is mixed add the gel. I will warn you that I used a whole container (Wilton size) of powder and gel, but the icing is pure red.

Just thought I would share the new thing I learned since I know this can be a hot topic sometimes.

when i need a RED color i just buy a pink icing and add red and with black i buy chocolate frosting and add black. ive tryed adding red to my bcf and it takes the whole bottle and still not red

This may be a dumb question but what powder? and do you mean writing gel?
