Does anyone have any tips for using fondant? I have not used it before but plan to soon and would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks.

Roll it on a lightly crisco-ed vinyl (very cheap, about $3, can get at Walmart on a big roll in the fabric section or precut at a cake supply store) This eliminates the powdered sugar white on colored fondant. Then use the vinyl to help put fondant on cake and peel off. When storing your vinyl, dont fold it, or the creases will show in your next cake.

the best tip i ever received for working w/ fondant, is to buy the vinyl sheet from wal-mart (the stuff people cover their couches w/, it should be in the fabric dept.). you can roll out your fondant and then just flip the entire thing over the cake to place it. it works perfectly every time. good luck, hth. icon_biggrin.gif
