I was mixing coulour into my fondant today and I think the fondant was too hard, cause my kitchenaid dies ... sob . Has anyone had this happen to them? Were you able to get it fixed? I am desperate, my kitchenaid was a wedding gift 6 years ago and I love it dearly.

I think you can call Kitchen Aid and see what they say. My grandma's quit after I don't even know how many years, and she called them and they helped her out alot. Sorry for your mixer.
I'm so sorry to hear of your loss.
I have read many times on here that KA will help you out if you just give them a call.

There are MANY posts about why not to use your KA for making fondant...so sorry yours died too!
My husband fixed mine....dunno how but he did
I will NEVER use mine for fondant again!
I am on my second motor in 7 years.
I called KA and they sent me a box to send my mixer in. It was much cheaper than buying a new one. Although i want an upgrade to the 6 qt prof.
but just bought a house and baby number 3 is coming so $400 is not walking out the door so soon.
a moment of silence for your mixer....
i almost did that once. i heard it struggling when i was making fondant and ran to its aid and saved it in time.
i hope you can get some help from ka. good luck!
Okay, you can do this...really.
Call Kitchen aid...and get a telephone number for a dealer for the gears... order the gear and take your machine apart...I found step by step directions online...and repair it yourself. EASY SHMEEZY....check out my blog for pics of my hospitalized KA
Email me if you need more help, I will be on vacation for a week or so, but really, you can do this repair yourself for about $30 or so...
Blessings, Shawn <><

This is probably the gear you are needing...but call for clarification..
You're right, it's usually me blabbing about the reputation of KA-it can't be beat. Additionaly, try out their forum, it covers stand mixers A to Z and you will more than likely find an answer...but I would still call KA, sometimes I can't believe the things they replace or fix at no charge.
Check out the following-its what came up when I did a search for "fondant"

KA Customer Service Phone #: 1-800-541-6390.
Find out what part is broken and then call and see what the part will cost. Then decide if it's worth it to fix.
My speed regulator broke on a 7 year old 4.5 quart KA and the part was about $40 with shipping so my husband said it wasn't worth it for something that old when there could be other things wrong. He sautered(sp?) the piece back together and sure enough it still makes noise on heavy things. I got a new mixer and he bought me the big one.
My first Kitchen Aid is still going at 25 years old. I have a 600 professional too. The first time I used it I thought it was broken. I called my daughter and she told me it takes a few seconds to start up.
Killed my Mother's making fondant as well - it was a 6qt and less than a year old!!! Mind you my very own 20 yr old KA has NEVER died!
Any way - do call KA, you CAN get it repaired, when I picked mine up from the shop the man had a line up of them all with the same "injury", in his words "They don't make 'em like they used to!"
OK, I know anyone's KA dying is not a laughing matter but....I'm LMFAO!!! For some reason this thread just cracked me up!!! (Watch, my KA will die tomorrow!!) I really am sorry about your tragic loss but it's nice to know if mine does give up the ghost, there's hope out there!! Thanks for the laugh!!

I had this happen several years ago I went and bought a new one but did not take it out of the box ( a great sale) but then we found the KA repair place was in Kansas City so my BIL took it there for me and saved me the shipping it was a $25 diagnostic fee all that was wrong was I burned out the brushes so it was fixed for that $25 I could have done it for only a few dollars if I had known what was wrong
so the new one was returned.... I also was doing something to much for the machine seems it was a double batch of gumpaste with the paddle.
