This is kind of a wierd request. A couple of weeks ago , we had to move our RV trailer away from our yard due to some work being done. We parked it away from the house where we couldn't plug it in. I thought,....no problem, the propane gas will kick in and keep the refridgerator running. It did , but I failed to realize the battery power required to keep the pilot light lit. At some point in time the battery failed and you guessed it,.....so did the fridge. This is where things get real "stinky!!!" About 3 days later DH goes out to check and realizes...oh oh!!!!! The frozen minnows we had in the freezer portion were beyond "rotten" and as he says..."would gag a maggot!" We have cleaned that fridge , & freezer out to the point you could eat off of it....scrubbed clean to the point of hands being raw. Used vinegar, baking soda, vanilla and about everything else I can think of to get the smell out, to no avail. The freezer portion stinks to high heaven when you open it. I won't use it for anything until we can figure out how to get rid of this.....Does anyone out there have any ideas what we could do to get rid of this. It's your basic RV fridge that is absolutely clean, but stinks!.....Pls. send any ideas....I'm at a loss Thanks in advance for any suggestions you can offer!

I'M W/DOUG

AIR IT OUT---EVERYTHING, THE FREEZER, FRIG, CAMPER

OPEN ALL WINDOWS & DOORS, TURN ON FANS, ---IF WEATHER PERMITS

USE ODOR KILLING SPRAYS, ETC...

& IF YOU HAVE A PORTABLE FAN, USE IT & LET THE AIR BLOW OUT OF THE CAMPER---

Several years ago, I was BROKE and someone offered me a used fridge they didn't use anymore, and I accepted it. Found out after it was moved into my house that it had only been out in their garage to store the FISH he would catch on yearly sea trips! I tried EVERYTHING! My grandmother suggested cleaning with a combo of elimimodor (a Sam's, Walmart product) then lay thick slices of lemon in the fridge with the door shut over night. It worked!!!

Thanks all for the suggestions. I actually posted on a newsreader last night and one lady came up with a good suggestion I am currently trying. The smell appears to have seeped into the cracks / seams of the freezer. Impossible to get at. What was suggested was "boiling" it out with hydrogen peroxide. I poured an entire bottle in the freezer and the odor was immediately gone telling me the odor was coming from the seams. We're letting it sit overnight in an unplugged fridge and will see what happens tommorow when we clean it out. DH said that if necessary, we'll run a bead of clear silicone along the seams to seal them after all is said and done. HOpe it works.....will keep you posted.
