I didn't even know they made cookie books! I knew they had recipe books but I didn't even give it a thought that they also printed "how to decorate and packeage cookies for someone that does not have a good imagination".....yes, that's me icon_surprised.gif

If you use a cookie book and really find it helpful would you clue me in to what book it is and WHY you like it! icon_smile.gif

I like pictures more then recipes. I have some recipes that are tried and true and will probably end up using them. Not that I won't try new ones....I'm always on the look for something new... icon_rolleyes.gif

TIA,

I like the Flour Pot Cookie Book and Toba Garrett's ccokie book (sorry can't remember the title right off). The new one by Confetti Cakes has some nice cookies but it is mostly cake. Those are my faves just for cookies and of course all the great pics posted here. That's enough by itself really...so why do I keep buying books DH asks

I like Autumn Carpenter's books as well. And I just picked up "Cookie Sensations" by Meaghan Mountford who owns Bundles of Cookies. Check out her site if you like pictures:

javajunkiechrissy...if my husband only knew how much i was really on here, i think he'd try to get rid of the computer. i blame the laundry, dinner, empty pillow, etc. on having 5 kids, and working. i'm not sure if i'm getting away with it or not, but i still have my computer.
i love the toba garrett book. autumn carpenter's books are great too for ideas. i think i have a different cookie book in every room, just in case i need to be inspired before i have time to get back to the kitchen hahaha

Glad to know I'm not the only one with laundry issues. icon_lol.gif

Of course I was spending too much time and dinner was not getting done. That's where DH draws the line. So I had to promise to work on that. Gotta love my crock pot. icon_wink.gif

I have bought several cookie books recently, many which have been mentioned already. I find that what is going to appeal to you is so dependant on your personal taste. I personally find Toba Garretts style a little too old fashioned for me, I am much more attracted to what I see in books such as Confetti Cakes. My old time favourite are the cookies (and cakes) in Peggy Porchen's two books, Pretty Party Cakes and Romantic Cakes. Soooo beautiful, girly and a bit kitch - right up my alley.

Joanna Farrow has some cool cookie books out there as well, but they can be harder to locate. Try the library first for her books.

The best inspiration for cookie decorating would be, for me, the amazing pictures in the CakeCentral Cookie Gallery. I used to dabble with cookies, when I wasn't swamped with cake orders. Now, when I open "My Favorite Photos", they're all cookies! Just looking at all that art has gotten me hooked on decorating cookies.

My favorite cookie book is The Flour Pot Book, you can look at my pics and see the inspiration I've gotten from this book. Great pics, easy directions, even shortcuts if you don't have time to make it as fancy as the pics.
5 stars for me! thumbs_up.gif

I just started getting into making cookies and bought 3 books. Cookie Sensations by Meaghan Mountford, Creative Cookies by Toba Garrett, and The Flour Pot Cookie Book by Margie and Abbey Greenberg. My favorite is Toba's. It gives you more details on how to go about different types of decorations and has lots of cookie recipes. Second will be the The flour pot. I made their basic cookie dough recipe and it was very good. You might be able to find some of these books in Michael's and use your discount coupons to save some money!! thumbs_up.gif I hope this help.

O.K. I'm going to the library and see what they have!

Kneadacookie....I also have five children...mine are all boys!! It's interesting around here at time.

BakingGirl - I love the book Pretty Party Cakes...I too am a girly-girl! I have the hardest time making anything for a guy!

Lenette- in my laundry room I call the pile of laundry....Mt. Laundry! I try to conquer it and it keeps coming back to get me...

Thank you so much for telling me about the books

I've looked at the galleries and I am truely inspired by the wonderful work and ingenious ideas!

I have an order....it's for a guy....coming up in July. I need to get some details on what he likes from his sister but I'm excited to try out my hand at these cookies!

THANKS thumbs_up.gif
