Do any of you know how one goes about getting licensed to sell cakes with characters on them? I remember being somewhere and the lady was selling some type of baked good (I don't remember what) and the Disney ones were $1 more each because of the licensing. Do they charge so much per item sold? Or is it a one time or yearly fee? Has anybody asked to find out how much? Lots of questions, I know, but I figured someone here might have inquired.....

You might be able to contact Disney corporate offices, but I would guess it to be in the thousands of dollars. They want to protect the images and you would be expected to produce perfect images of the protected characters.

So maybe the $1 extra per cake was a fund she was saving for bail in the case that the Disney police should knock on her door!?!?!

I was told by my Wilton Instructor that a lady in the town next to us made a Minnie Mouse cake for a woman and that woman just happened to work for Disney and they fined her 10,000 dollars..I don't know how true this is, but she says it happened!!!

If you want to do copyrighted characters on cakes, the companies have approved certain figures for this. I would contact BakeryCrafts or DecoPac. These companies carry cake kits that you can use on a cake.

In order to buy from them you do need to have a tax ID number for a business.

HTH

if you have any other questions let me know I can get into more detail if you like
